Jin Yong was born on March 10, 1924. He has written such well-known novels as Heroes of Archery, Swordsmen of God, Slaughtering Dragon by Heaven, Eight Tianlong Books, Laughing Ao Jianghu, Luding Ji and so on.

Jin Yong, formerly known as Cha Liangyong, was born in Haining, Zhejiang Province, and moved to Hongkong in 1948.
In 1944, he was admitted to the diplomatic Department of Chongqing Central University of political science.
In the autumn of 1946, Jin Yong entered Shanghai Ta Kung Pao as an international telecommunications translator.
In 1948, he graduated from Law School of Soochow University in Shanghai.
In 1952, he was transferred to the editorial supplement of New Evening News, and wrote film scripts such as "The Great Beauty" and "Orchid Flower".
In 1959, Jin Yong and others founded Ming Bao in Hongkong.
Since 1985, he has been a member of the Drafting Committee of the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, one of the leaders of the Political System Group, a member of the Executive Committee of the Advisory Committee on the Basic Law and a member of the Preparatory Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
In May 1999, Jin Yong, who was 75 years old, was invited to be the dean of the College of humanities by Zhejiang University.
In 2000, the Bauhinia medal was awarded.
In September 2009, he was appointed honorary vice chairman of the Seventh National Committee of the Chinese writers' Association. In the same year, he won the 2008 World Chinese Achievement Award.
In 2010, he received his Ph.D. in philosophy from University of Cambridge.
In October 30, 2018, Jin Yong died at the age of 94.
